Extra Human Class Experience for Weapons
Right after the Minotaur battle in the Wine Cellar, you can use a training dummy to practice your chain combos. This dummy counts as human experience on your weapons, so you can use it to built up that affinity

Skip Intro Sequences
In Vagrant Story for the first generation Playstation one can skip the introductory cinema that introduces the plot and shows Ashley arriving at the manor. This can be done by pressing the start button a few seconds after the first view of the manor fades into view fully. (The screen with the rain and the location/time subtitle) This will bring the player to the second intro that begins with a quote. If the start button is pressed again at this screen the game will skip ahead once more and show the playable  Ashley sprite inside the wine cellar. This trick skips about ten minutes of exposition and also skips the battles with the two guards and the Wyvern. Nice time saver.

Hints

Dragons & Wyvrens
When fighting any dragons or wyverns, run up to them and get under their heads. Focus your attacks at the head and neck (the most vulnerable parts). If you stay close to the dragon's body, you'll never have to experience it's breath weapons

New Area and Weapons
Complete the game once and the next time you play it you'll be able to access new areas and be able to get new weapons.

Rare Grimoires for five different spells in one location
At the Sinner's Corner save point/teleport/room and the four rooms immediately surrounding it is a phantom class enemy called the Dark Eye. After a Dark Eye is defeated it may drop a Grimoire for one of five different, rare, warlock class spells. Those spells are Solid Shock, Lightning Bolt, Fireball, Vulcan Lance, and Dark Chant. Note: These Rare Grimoires are dropped very infrequently, and some time is needed to get them.

Rare Grimories without Dark Eye:
In the Iron Maiden B1 you'll fight 2 wraiths and a gargoyle when you kill 1 of the wraiths and you will get a grimorie for Dark Chant, Lightning Bolt, Fireball, Vulcan Lance and Solid Shock. But some time is needed to get them and you reach Iron Maiden B1 befor you reach Sinner's Corner.

Rare Grimories in one place.
In the Iron Maiden B1 you'll fight 2 wraiths and a gargoyle. When you kill one of the wraiths, it will drop a grimorie for Dark Chant, Solid Shock, Vulcan Lance, Lightning Bolt and Vulcan Lance, but it may take a while so you will need to be patient and you get their before the sinners corner dark eye cheat

Damascus Destroyer
Combine four Damascus Tabars to make a Damascus Crescent. Then, combine three Silver Khukuris into the Crescent to make a Damascus Griever. Repeat this to get a Damascus Destroyer. Add three Arturos Gems to it and an Elephant Grip to make it 2 STR higher than the Holy Win.

Crossbow
The Crossbow is one of the best weapons in the game. If you are in a situation when you do not want to fight close range, the crossbow takes care of that issue. When you save up on multiple enemies, your stats will decrease in other fields. The best method is to have lots of crossbows specialized for different enemy types.

The Hand of Light
Your first Boss in the game is the Mighty Minotaur. He has a big mace called The Hand of Light, which you can get. After you find the Stock Sigil later in the game, return to the place where you battled the Minotaur to find his Zombie. He respawns, just like any other enemy. Kill him repeatedly and you may be rewarded with his weapon.

Dread armor
Dread is the best armor in most cases. To make Dread armor, combine two Jazeraint peices. To get Jazeraint, combine two Hoplites. In most cases, combine Plated with Fluted to get Hoplite. Gloves are the exception; combine a Rondache and a Plate Glove to get a Tilt Glove, then combine two Tilt gloves to get a Freitenure, next combine that with the Fluted to make Hoplite. In the case of helms, combine a Burgonet with a Close Helm to make a Hoplite helm. Making a Dread shield works the same way. Combine an Oval Shield with a Knight Shield to make Hoplite.

Charming enemies
When you are around a human, they usually think you are the enemy and will attack. Use heal on one soldier three times and a heart shape will appear above his head. When you are in a room with such a guard, he will help you during battle. This does not work during Boss battles. The guards will not follow you to a different screen or area. This is useful in areas with one or more guard, and only one of the guards can use magic

Defeating Dullahan (Titan)
After killing the minotaur and acquiring both the Seventh Heaven and Chain abilities, practice combining chains on the practice dummy until you are able to string together at least twelve chains. When you have finally made it to the room that Dullahan is in, cast Degenerate on him as soon as possible. Follow this up with a series of chain attacks. Note: Use the attack abilities that can inflict 70% of original damage that was inflicted with the initial blow.

Easy Boss battles
Have Instill in your chain abilities. Attack normal enemies chaining Instill and another ability. Do this until your weapon's Phantom Points are full. Switch your weapon and repeat this process. When all of your weapons are full, fight the Boss. At this point, switch your chain abilities so that you have Phantom Pain in your arsenal. Attack the Boss with your first weapon, using the Phantom Pain chain ability. Switch your weapon. Repeat the process. Since most weapons have around 100 PP, this makes quick work of almost any Boss.

Chaining
Do not stop chaining just because you miss, even on the first hit. Chain hits after a miss will continue to add up one to two points each hit, even if you are at 100 Risk. Of course, it takes a while to defeat anybody that way, but if you are stuck in a fight you cannot get out of it works. This is especially useful if you chain Gain Magic with Heavy Shot -- this will refill your MP and give you unlimited healing during a fight (Gain Magic never seems to miss), and hurt your opponent somewhat in the process.

Combining
When two items that are exactly the same are combined, the resulting item will be the same type of item, but will have higher stats. For example, if you have two identical short swords and combine them, you will lose those two short swords and get a new third short sword, with slightly higher stats.

Defeating the rock opponent
Before fighting the rock opponent, take out the club and shield and enter the room. Do not go down the stairs. Instead, go all the way to the right, next to the pillars, and jump off. This will allow you to kill him easier

Save MP when healing
Cast the healing spell when you are in battle mode. This will give you more HP than just healing when in normal/relaxed mode.

Training dummies
Throughout the game you will find training dummies near save points. These training dummies allow you to practice combos and power-up your weaponry. The locations of the training dummies are as follows.

Wine Cellar, "Blackmarket": Human dummy Wine Cellar, "Worker's Restroom": Human dummy Abandoned Mines B1, "The Dark Tunnel": Beast dummy Catacombs, "Hall of Sworn Revenge": Undead dummy City Walls North, "From Boy to Hero": Phantom dummy City Walls South, "The Boy's Training Room": Dragon dummy Town Center East, "Gharmes Walk": Evil dummy

Weapon and shield combinations
Combine two Hangane Dubble-Blades to get a Hangane Halberd (Weapon) Combine two Nodachis to get a Rune Blade (Weapon) Combine two Khopeshes to get a Wakizashi (Weapon) Combine an Oval and a Heater to get a Knigh (Shield)

I'll 'Heal' Ya Dead
Use the Heal magic to kill undead foes.

Siege Bow
:
Combine a Destroyer and a Rune Blade to make a Siege Bow which has a range of 11 and a very high damage.

For Great Swords
Combine an Executioner and a Katana to make a Claymore.
Combine a Claymore and a Schiovana to make a Bastard Sword.
Combine two (2) Bastard Swords to make a Nodachi.
Combine two (2) Nodachi Swords to make a Rune Blade.
Try combining two (2) Rune Blades. I haven't made it because it takes a lot of time and patience.

For Great Maces
Combine two (2) Mjinors (or whatever it is) to create a
Griever.
Combine two (2) Grievers to make a Destroyer.
Try combining 2 Destroyers...

For Great Axes
Combine a Balbariggan and a Guisarme to make a Large Crescent.
Combine a Large Crescent and a Balbariggan to make a Double Blade.
Combine 2 Double Blades to make a Halberd, the Best great AXE in the game.

Weapon/shield combinations:
Combine two Hangane Dubble-Blades to get a Hangane
Halberd (Weapon)
Combine two Nodachis to get a Rune Blade (Weapon)
Combine two Khopeshes to get a Wakizashi (Weapon)
Combine an Oval and a Heater to get a Knight (Shield
Combine the Damascus Bastard Sword With
Hagane Wakasashi, you get Damascus Falchion.
Combine the Damascus Falchion with Damascus
Shotel, you get Damascus Khora.
Repeat it 3 more times to get the Damascus
Wakasashi.

To get the Damascus Bastard Sword
Go to the time attacks, course 7 and defeat the ogre zombie.

To get the Damascus Shotel
Go to the Temple of Kiltia, one of the birds has it. One little note:
It's tough to get the Damascus Wakasashi and it will take a long time. It's very rare to get the Damascus weapons from the birds, or the ogre zombie. Before you go in to the time attack in course 7, put on the magic ward, so the spell against Death zombie will be unaffected. Save you games, after obtaining any Damascus items.

Other Combinations
Combine a Wakizashi and a Halberd to make a Sage's Staff. It is a very big staff that will have a very high damage. Combine a Shotel and a Falchion to make a Khora. Combine two Khoras to make a Kopesh. Combine two Kopesh to make a Wakizashi. Try combining two Wakizashi but a a lot of patience to do it. It really takes a lot of time.

Combine a Wakizashi and a Sage's Cane to make a Destroyer, the best heavy mace in the game.
Combine a Wakizashi and a Bardysh  (polearm) to make the best crossbow with a range of 12. It has a higher compared to the Siege Bow that has a range of 11 and you can make it by combining a Rune Blade and a Destroyer.
Combine a Crescent (axe) and a Khora (sword) to make a hammer that describes as " an immensely heavy hammer".
You can make the Crescent by combining two Bullovas. To get a Bullova, combine two Tabars.
You can get a Khora by combining a Shotel and a Falchion.
Get the Excalibur (the great sword that the last boss has) by going back to the room behind you after you fight Asura in Iron Maiden 3. You will also acquire a gem which is named Arturos that will give you a lot of attacking power on your weapon. It is very powerful and the great sword, Excalibur, is very hard to get so be very patient.
When you encounter any enemy, use the Sorcerer magic which is Analyze on the enemy. If it did not miss, go to your status. Then press R1 of L1 to see his status. It would help you in killing him because you'll know how much is left in his life or his magic. You will also be able to see the weapon, shield, or armor he is wearing. You will see his Strength, Intelligence, and his Agility.

Metallurgy 101
There are 5 kinds of metals in the game. They are Bronze, Iron, Hagane, Silver, and Damascus. I ordered them from the weakest kind to the strongest kind. If you have a Rapier, for example, made of Bronze, its damage is lesser than the Iron. Next to Iron is Hagane. But Hagane is stronger than Silver but Silver weapons can damage more on the Undead enemies. If you have a weapon made of Damascus, then congratulate yourself for you have the best kind of metal.
If you already have a good armor, don't bother using the defense abilities because it will just make your Risk higher.
The Best Weapons (on different categories):

-Wakizashi (the best one-handed sword)
-Arbalest (the best bow)
-Sage's Cane (the best cane)
-Holy Win (the best two-handed sword)
(you cannot make this kind of Great Sword, you'll have to acquire it from the Dark Crusader in the Iron Maiden 3!)
-Destroyer (the best heavy mace)
-War Hammer (the best one-handed mace)
-Crescent (he best one-handed axe)
-Halberd (the best two-handed axe)
-Bardysh (the best polearm)
(I think I already have given the materials to combine to make these weapons.)
