Money
When you start the game press L2, X, Circle and Square this will give you 1000000 credits every time you type it in. Reported not working by Kris

Win first place in arcade mode
Purchase a "special" model car on the simulation mode disc, which costs approximately 500,000 to 1,000,000 credits. Save the game. On the arcade disc, choose to load the simulation mode game. When choosing the class of car in a race, choose
"home garage" and use your new car.

Get the Viper GTS-R
To get the Viper GTS-R, you must first win the apricot hill 200km. (I used an Alfa Romeo 155 touring car) you should too. Submitted by Tishan Rahman

Loads of Money
To make a lot of money in few laps, buy a touring car e.g Vauxhall calibra and go to special races on the third page to find the grand touring, go to the third race and win 30000 + a car sold 4 250,000, wahay, if you have any problems email me at weekends and I will offer my help.

If you buy a 155 Alfa Romeo  touring car, it will beat everyone in every race you enter.  If you enter it in the special races convertible race, 591hp, if you come first you get the prize money plus the concept car LM Edition.
I don't know if its just my copy but if you win enough races you can race on the Motor Sports land circuit (like a Go-Kart track) in the Arcade time trial mode, but if you go the wrong way and run into some barriers you can eventually break out of the circuit and take a drive into the great gray yonder. Not very productive but its a laugh!
Buy a Suzuki R Escudo and do the endurance special stage R5 all night 50 lap race and win with a R escudo and the car you win is a TVR Caberra Lm edition worth 250,000 which you can't buy in the TVR garage.
Go to Ford (south city) and go to lineup 2 and buy the RS200, buy it and go to tune up and juice it up to about 400+horses.Fit it with dirt tires. And it will beat cars up to 591,HP,cars (I like it!)
Win the 100 mile Seattle endurance twice in a row to unlock the ford GT90.
Get 1 million credits then go into west city to Alfa Romeo go under special models then buy the Alfa 155 Touring Car. Then go to the special event to line up 3 and go on to pure sports car cup. Then race round 'Trial Mountain' (591 BHP). Winning the race should be easy, if you come first place you get 10 000 credits. The car you get is a TVR Tuscan Speed 6. This is worth 125 000 credits.
Buy 7 Mercedes Benz and the last one will turn into a McClaren f1.

Cloning
Load game from memory card in slot one and go main menu and select data transfer, then click trade and remove card from slot 1 and place in slot 2,then select slot 2 and load up, then go to garage and select car to clone, make sure have enough money for trade, click ok and buy, then save and remove card and put in slot 1 and save now you have 2 of the same cars.

Sponsor mix-up
If you have earned the Toyota GT-ONE race cars '99, and '98, they will always have the sponsor Esso Ultron instead of Exxon Superflo. Only the CPU GT-ONE race cars have the sponsor Exxon Superflo, but the GT-ONEs you get to drive have the sponsor Esso Ultron. Submitted by Jag 9/23/03

Hint: 4 hidden prize cars
You will need to earn the Toyota GT-ONE race car '99 by getting all dold trophies on the super license first. after earning this car, race it in the International World League (Gran Turismo League) There are 3 out of the 4 cars that you can win. #1 the Nissan R390GT1 LM edition '98, #2 the Toyota GT-ONE race car '98, and #3 the Nissan Calsonic Skyline GT '99. Just keep repeating/winning the International World League championship to get all 3 cars. You will get a car twice in a row sometimes. The last car is a little bit harder to get. #4 the Nissan R390GT1 LM edition '97. You have to race the 60 lap endurance race in order to get it. Again, use the GT-ONE race car in the race. You will have a much better chance at getting the R390GT1 rather than the Subaru Impreza rally car. (The other bonus car.) Just keep doing the race over, and over until you get the R390GT1 race car. Submitted by Jag 9/23/03

Bonus cars and money
Win the 4WD Challenge at Laguna Seca to receive a 618 hp custom car. Take that car to the Tuned-Turbo Challenge and enter the Test-Track race. You will win $50,000 and a car worth $30,000 for each 3-lap race that is won. The secret to winning on the Test-Track is in the corners. Stay smooth and off the walls/grass to pass the faster cars. Do not let them block your car, and drive defensively once in the lead. You will also need licenses to race.

Get a powerful and fast car, such as the Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec (R34.J) '99 and tune it to the max. Then, get an International A license. Go to Special Events, go to Line Up 4, choose Tuned Turbo Car No.1 Race at the Test Course. Finish in first place to get $50,000 and a Skyline that is worth $30,000. Bonus Cars in Simulation mode
Unlike the original (where rewards were straightforward) bonus cars in Gran Turismo 2's Simulation mode are more numerous and subjective. Simulation mode bonuses are determined by:

Bonus cars in Arcade mode
Win a forward course in Arcade mode at Normal difficulty.

Easy Money
First, you will need to have an Internal B license and a pretty good car (you'll be racing against cars with up to 591hp). Go to the Special Events, and choose the Pure Sports Car Cup. Enter the third race at Trial Mountain. If you win, you'll get $10,000, but you will also get a Tuscan Speed 6, which is worth $125,000. Go to your Garage after winning, sell the car, and repeat the race. If you win you'll get the car again! If you repeat this process you can quickly get enough money to buy almost any car. Just remember to sell the car before saving your game or trying the race again.

Easy Money...method 2
Race the Special Events mid-engine rear-wheel drive challenge. Win the Red Rock Valley race and get the Gulf Ford GT 40 and 15,000 credits. Repeat the race with the GT 40 you have just won to win the race very easily. Sell the next GT 40 to get a tidy sum of 250,000 credits!!!

GT1 memory card trick
Do you still have the data from Grand Turismo 1 on your memory card? All the license info from GT1 works with GT2

Unlock Honda S2000
All you have to do to get the Honda S2000 is get all gold's on the B-license.

Unlock S-Class Cars
In Arcade Mode you pick from three classes of cars. A: Sports Cars, B: High Performance Cars and C: City Driver Cars. To access the Super sports car S Class in Simulation Mode pass all five license tests and return to arcade mode and beat every track on Difficult. After winning five or six races the S-Class category will appear.

Unlock Speed 12
To win a Speed 12 you must beat Red Rock Valley at Gran Turismo All Stars

Double Your Cash and Garage Space
It is understood that your garage in Gran Turismo 2 only holds 100 cars at a time. Lets say you have 100 cars and $10 million credits Save your game play twice on two different memory cards. Use one card as your primary garage and one as your secondary garage. Now take the first card and sell off all the lower cars then safe again. Now take the secondary card , load up and sell all the higher cars then safe again on the secondary card. Keep your best race cars on the primary and all others on the secondary. You have now double your garage space to 200 and have doubled your credits with 10 million in each , plus what you got for the sold cars for a total credits of 20 million plus whatever earned on sold cars, split between the two garages. If you need to transfer a car from one garage to the other, use the data transfer mode off the main menu by buying the cars off each other You will never lose the money for you own both garages. When one garage fills up, do it again.

Event Synthesizer race
Earn the Super License to unlock the "Event Synthesizer" race in Gran Turismo League.

Open Race Entries
Here's a glitch in Gran Turismo 2! Every race that specifies a certain type of car, i.e. Station Wagons, Muscle Cars, Compact Cars, etc, has no restrictions as to car type! That's right, you can use any car you want! The only restriction is the horsepower. I used a Supra on almost every one of these races and blew them all away! NOTE: this doesn't work on the drive train specific races. (FF, FR, 4WD, etc.)

Super Vector?
Another glitch in GT2! If you buy a Weigert Vector W8, you'll find that they messed up the speed a little bit. I got the thing up to 95mph in 1st gear, and 230mph in 3rd before I ran out of road. If you change the power to weight ratio (add HP or reduce weight) though, the car reverts to the way it's really supposed to be. This isn't just a mess up with the numbers, the car REALLY goes that fast! Try it for yourself and see

Extra HP in HP limited races
On the simulation disc you can use a car with up to 5 more HP on the races (with limited HP). Go buy a item such as race mufflers or computer, but do not equip them on the car. Before the race go into settings and equip the item. The computer will allow around 5 HP more than posted.

Get Mark Martin's NASCAR Racecar
Go to the Ford dealership, hit the link for Lineup 2, buy yourself a Ford Taurus SHO '99 ($30,980). Make sure you have $85,000 handy. Go to the tune-up area and put racing modifications on it. Now look at it! It's Mark Martin's Race Car!

Mad Cash for Real
Don't mess around with any other race for money except the Red Rock Valley race under the GT All Stars. Start out with buying the Suzuki Escudo (It is under the special options and costs two million alone.) Take this car to the Red Rock Valley race of the GT all Stars race. Winning gets you 50,000 dollars and the car you get (a TRV Speed 12) is worth 500,000.

More car indicator
When you want to buy a car and you are browsing, make sure you look in the right hand corner of the screen. If an arrow points to the right, click on it to see more cars. This also works with some special models. (Example: Ford has four special models).

Bonus cars and money
Buy a Mitsubishi 300GT and enter it into the 4WD Race. After winning that race you will receive a car that is great but only worth 125,000 credits. It has great handling and speed.

First, get a fast car like a Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version. Then, go to the Tuned-Turbo Challenge and enter the Test Course. If you win, you will get 50,000 credits and a drag car that is worth 250,000 credits. You have to defeat the drag car to obtain it. The drag car does not corner very well, so take them slow.

Win the 4WD Challenge at Laguna Seca to receive a 618 hp custom car. Take that car to the Tuned-Turbo Challenge and enter the Test-Track race. You will win 50,000 credits and a car worth 30,000 credits for each 3-lap race that is won.

Finish in first place to get 50,000 credits and a Skyline that is worth 30,000 credits. Repeat this until you win a 250,000 Mine's HKS 180 SX (racing modified). Repeat again until you win a 13,750 Mines Lancer V (racing modified).

After wining all National races, race any of the Euro-Pacific races. Each win will give you 10,000 credits plus a 250,000 credit car.

Buy a used Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M(R32,J) '91. Completely outfit it with all performance and handling upgrades (excluding "For Professionals Only" items). Enter "Grand Touring Cup" and win first in Midfield Raceway (about 4 minutes). You will receive 30,000 credits plus a 250,000 credit Unisia Jecs Skyline. Sell the car. Repeat this process four times to earn about 1,120,000 credits in under sixteen minutes.

Go to the "Muscle Car" event and enter the second race. Win this race to get a car worth 75,000 credits and 8,000 prize credits.

Race the 30 lap endurance race. Win first place to get 150,000 credits and a Supra race car worth 250,000 credits. A recommended car is the '91 Supra Twin Turbo R outfitted with sports tires, sports brakes, sports suspension, chip upgrade, stage 1 turbo, racing intercooler, racing exhaust, and stage 2 weight reduction. Note: The race will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.

Go to the Gran Turismo All-Star League and win the Laguna Seca race. You will receive 50,000 credits and the TVR Speed 12 which you can sell for 500,000 credits. Getting the GT One On-Road from Toyota and putting a stage 4 turbo on it is recommended.

Race all of your licenses until you get all gold and a FTO LM. Take it to the Gran Turismo All-Star League. Race the Red Rock Valley twice and sell the car you win to end up with 1.1 million credits

Car wash glitch
There is a mistake at the part where you wash your car. When you go wash your car, it says it costs 5,000 credits to wash once. But it's really costing you only 50 credits.

Buzz  by the cop
On the 2nd level when you come around Peterson Ave. Press: x, triangle, circle, square, then start and your car will buzz right by the cop.

Easy Money: Endurance
All those who have played GT1 will not like the endurance races, will you? wrong answer. Go to apricot Hill 200K, and win there. If you like to cruise round in a Skyline R34, you will lap 2nd about twice. This is so easy, that I crashed many a time, yet still retained my lead. Go on soft tires, although you will have to make around 5-6 pit stops (or at least I did, probably because I am very reckless) you get 500,000 credits at the end, plus a stratos that you can sell for 75,000 credits

Multiple car viewing mode for replays.
In order to view different cars on replay mode press up and triangle at the same time. This only works on 1 player mode though

Kiddie medal
The small green and yellow object on the status screen under licenses is a license award given if you miss the bronze medal by .3 to .5 seconds. The game is selective when awarding the medal and it may take several attempts to earn one.

Motor Sports Land track
Obtain all of the licenses, including the Super License and the Motor Sports Land track will become available in time trial mode on the arcade disc.

All tracks in arcade mode
Obtain all licenses in simulation mode on disc two, including the Super License.

FedEx car
Enter the Gran Turismo League race events until reaching the Pacific League races. Then, enter the Midfield Raceway event to be awarded with a R*Nissan 300ZX GTS FedEx race car.

Mark Martin's NASCAR #6 Ford Taurus
To obtain this car you must first purchase a Ford Taurus and then perform the Racing modification.

License test cars
To get the following cars, you must get all gold on the given license:
Gold B: Spoon S2000 (J)
Gold A: Dodge Concept Car (red)
Gold IC: 3000GT LM Edition
Gold IB: Del Sol LM Edition
Gold IA: FTO LM Edition
Gold S: Toyota GT-ONE Race Car '99

Ending credits
Win every race in Gran Turismo League to unlock the ending credits on the arcade disc. Alternatively, finish in first place on all 21 tracks in arcade mode on the professional difficulty setting.

Increasing number of days
To easily increase the number of days in the game, just go to a race. When you are at the screen with the "Start Race" selection, go to "Exit" and your days will increase by one.

Increasing completion percentage
Each time you win a race you will earn 4.5% towards your total completion of the game.

Obtain licenses easier
At the main menu in simulation mode, go to the last selection (Transfer or Communication). You can load your licenses from the original Gran Turismo here.

More laps in Max Speed Test
To make your high speed increase during this test, turn around and drive backwards until you get your desired speed. Return to the correct direction and finish the race.

More car indicator
When you want to buy a car and you are browsing, make sure you look in the right hand corner of the screen. If an arrow points to the right, click on it to see more cars. This also works with some special models. (Example: Ford has four special models).

Finding cars
If you cannot find a certain car in the used car lot, check back in about 10 days or more. The car you are looking for may be available. For example, the Mazda AZ-1 appears only on certain days in the lot.

Easy Rally Racing
Buy the ESCUDO Pikes Peak version and use it to compete in any of the Rally Races to easily defeat your opponents.

5 Mercedes Benz:
Buy a Daihatsu at 95hp or under and race the Rome city course and win it , then go to your garage and you will have 5 Mercedes Benz worth over 500,000.

If you need to transfer a car from one garage to the other, use the data transfer mode off the main menu by buying  he cars off each other You will never lose the money for you own both garages. When one garage fills up, do it again.

Arcade Mode Credits
On the Hard Difficulty complete 23 forward courses while in Arcade Mode

Transfer Licenses from GT
Go to Simulation Mode> Main Menu> Transfer or Communication to grab some licenses from your Gran Turismo save file

1200 Horsepower Nissan Skyline R34 GTR
Select machine test and go for maximum speed. After you have set a record, set your name as speed demon. Go to your garage and you will find a 1200 Horsepower Nissan Skyline R34 GTR.

Hint
First get a OPEL TIGRA ICE RACE CAR. This will make it's speed and handling better. Don't do anything to it! Just go to the settings menu and press L1. Put the spring rate at 7.2 in the front and 9.0 in back, ride high at 95 in front and 150 in back, damper bound and rebound at 7 on all of them, camber at 2.0 in front and 1.0 in back, toe 0.00 on both, stabilizer at 7 both. Go down one. Record the gears before changing them!!! 1,3.013. 2, 1.905. 3, 1.339 4, 0.992. 5,0.774. 6, 0.635. Final, 3.585. Go down one. Auto setup,25. Go down one. Downforce,0.52, 0.85. Down one more! LSD initial,11 both. LSD accel., 56 both. LSD deccel, 16 both. Your racer should be better now.

Hint
You don't have to race just Japanese cars to win the Japanese cup. The only limit is the cars horsepower. I won all the first races with a fantastic Alfa Romeo. The middle race I used a Toyota Supra which I bought used. The last race I won using a Mitsubishi GT3000. In the end, the very best you can do is to buy your car the very soft racing tires, approximately 18.000cr.

Hint
Win the 80's Sports Car race on Tahiti Road (last one) and to receive 10,000 credits and a car worth 125,000.

Hint
The best car in the game is an Opel Tigra Ice Rally car. It is great in acceleration, speed, and handling.

Hint
Top end speed: On any car that has full racing gears, go to change parts menu and select "Gear". Make sure "Auto Setup" is set to "Wide" for more top end speed

Make up a lot of credits
The best way to make up a lot of credits once you have a fast car is to go and race the grand Turismo all-stars race. Race the red rock valley track and win. You get a car worth 500'000 cr and 50'000 for the win. Race it again and sell the car. If you make up enough credits do yourself a favor and buy the Suzuki escudo pikes peak version, under special. It's with out a doubt the fastest car in gt2(981hp).

400 kilometers per hour!
First you need at least 2 million bucks. Then go and buy the Toyota GT-1. Go to tune and tune it to the maximum for turbo and other engine modifications. Then get a fully customized gearbox. Then go to machine testing and setup the 'box so that first gear is in the middle of the bar and second is diagonally down left and carry on with this until sixth is right next to the left barrier. (I got to 429.74 kph)

Get the Cerbera LM Edition
Go to Endurance Races at the race screen selection. Go to the S.S. Route/ All night. Compete there and win. You get the Cerbera LM Edition that has 624 horsepower if you win.  (Also easy to win if you have an Escudo Peaks Pike Version if you are good at turning!)

Get the Escudo Peaks Pike Version Easily
Go to Special Events at the Race selection screen. Go to the Grand Touring Car Trophy. Race in Midfield Raceway and win. if you do, you get the Unisia Jecs Skyline that you can sell for 250,000 credits. Go back to the Midfield Raceway and race there again 7 more times. After you do that, you will have 2,000,000 credits if you started out with 0 credits before you started all of the Midfield Raceway. Then after that, go to East City and go up to Suzuki. Click that, and then go to Special. Click that and at first, the Escudo Peaks Pike Version won't come up, but then go top the next one and you'll see the Escudo Peaks Pike Version. Buy it. You'll be left with zero credits though so it's a tough choice if you want to buy it. ( You can pretty much win every single race that the Escudo Peaks Pike Version can participate in. If you didn't start out with 0 credits, just do the Midfield Raceway and sell the Unisia Skyline's you get until you get 2,000,000 credits)

Get the Celica Rally Car
Go to Endurance race. See the Laguna Seca 200 mile? If you do good. If you don't your probably blind. If you do, compete in the Laguna Seca 200 mile race. If you win, You get a Celica Rally Car that has 569 horsepower. ( Easy to win the Laguna Seca 200 mile race with a Escudo Peaks Pike Version if you can turn good.)

Hint
When you load up your saved file go to home then go to garage choose a car but do not press the x button on it, then press the start button on that car. it will disappear to the top of the garage so then you can organize the cars.
