All Codes
To unlock all the cheats you must beat the game WITHOUT using cheats and save on the last stage which is "President's Run". Once you save it and return to the menu you will have all the cheats in the Cheat Menu.

Antipodean (Inverted Screen)
At the main menu, press R2, R2, R1, L2, L1, R2, L2, L1, R2, R2, L2, R2, L1. (A tone confirms correct entry.) The cheat will be unlocked on the "Cheats" screen

Successfully complete the game once to unlock a hidden city.

Cheat mode
Enter one of the following cheats at the main menu. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear a sound. Then the corresponding code will be unlocked on the cheats screen.

Invincible
Quickly press L2(2), R2(2), L2, R2, L2, L1, R2, R1, L2, L1(2).

No police
Quickly press L1, L2, R1(4), L2(2), R1(2), L1(2), R2.

Rear wheel steering
Quickly press R1(3), R2, L2, R1, R2, L2, L1, R2, R1, L2, L1.

Long suspension

Mini cars

Upside-down screen

Better Handling Tips
Turn off the "Auto Handbrake" option when you start the game.
Ram the back of your car into other cars or a building until the damage bar turns green. This will make the car handle better

Activate All Cheats
Complete the whole game once (including New York) and all cheats will be activated in the cheat menu.

Escape Police
When a Police Car is behind you, slam on the brakes until he hits you then immediately put the car in reverse. When the policeman says he lost you hit the gas!!

Another way to shut down a police car is to approach it head on and keep pressing the accelerator until you lock up. eventually, the sirens will shut off. then, for fun, you can have a ram fest to let out all of that anger or revenge (ha ha). another fun thing to do is donuts by pressing any direction after stopping, holding it, and finally hitting circle (recommended use with invincibility on).

The Negatives
On the level in New York called "The Negatives" there is a way to skip it! When the title of the level appears it will zoom in on your car. When it does this press O instead of X, and it will say well done as the level is completed!

Get all four in four secs
At the test or training in driver you can accomplish burnout, handbrake, speed, brake test, within the first five second's by accelerating with the burnout button from your starting point until you past the last column in the garage. then brake using both the regular and hand brake buttons and you'll stop just before hitting the wall .

Easy Way to Beat Undercover Mode
Put on the invisibility cheat and race through the missions and the police will not see you

Get in Building
"In Miami" track #1;drive straight until you see a new city then you'll see two little red lines on your map in the corner, you'll also see another long red line turn on that line u will see 3 poles go up to them and look be hind and you will see a building sticking out. Drive through the white square part.

Drive on the Ocean
Pick the Miami level.  Drive o a corner by the ocean.  Get a cop to ram you in the side.  If he hits you just right, you will get shot through the barrier, and onto the beach.  Now you can drive any where around the city, and the cops can't get you.

NOTE: It might take a couple of times.  It might also be a good idea to have invincibility on.

Green Panel van as a selectable car in Miami
On the menu screen press the following buttons. L2 L1 L2 L1 R1 R2 R1 R2 R2 L1 R2 L2 R1 and a green panel van will be a selectable car in Miami. (when you enter' take a drive' mode.)

Skip Training Mode
Find the file DRIVER\DATA\MLADDER.DML and back it up. Now use notepad or any text editor to remove the lines INTERVIEW & QUITONFAIL from this file. Save it back to the directory and you now do not have to pass training to go to the missions

Hints & Tips

Losing the tail on "Getaway"
Choose San Francisco and travel straight until you get to the end of the street, then make a left. There should be tracks in the middle of the street. Go on the right hand side of the tracks and stop your car when the streetcar appears. The streetcar should hit your car and push it along the street. The police will keep crashing into the streetcar until their car wrecks. if the streetcar bumps you out of the way, chase it and try to get in front of it. Note: In order for this to work, you must travel at top speed until you get to the tracks.

Easy code entry
After beating the checklist at the beginning of the game, save the game to make starting new games easier. Also save the game at the very end, before the ending sequence starts. Then, load that game, advance past the FMV sequences, and the codes will already be enabled.

Easy getaway
While the police is chasing your car from behind, slam the brakes, wait for him to run into your car, then slam the car in reverse. If done correctly, the policeman will say that he lost you. Hit the gas to complete an easy getaway.

Another getaway technique that does not expend as much energy as ramming is to use the surrounding traffic. Gently tap the cars toward the direction that your car is traveling. The cops will follow and most often ram the traffic car instead of your car.

The police AI is relatively dumb. Try "hiding" behind a light pole and watch the cops wrap themselves around it. Also, find a wall and try and get it between your car and the police. If you have the skills, turning into an alleyway quickly can also shake off a pursuit. Weaving through traffic generally does not work unless you skin the other cars. For some reason, the police tend to run into stopped cars a lot more frequently. Also, the police barricade cars will remain still if they are not touched. If you can pass through the middle, any police cars that are following will usually hit the barricade, causing one large pile-up.

When pursued by the police, take your vehicle up onto a footpath and stay on it for approximately five to ten seconds. The police will turn around to go in another direction and say they have lost you. This will even work when the police are right on your tail.

In San Francisco, enable the "Invincible" code, then locate the ramps. After the police are on your tail, get to top speed, ramp, and turn sharply. If done correctly, the police will fly over your car at the speed and direction that you were travelling.

Begin game play in Miami in survival mode. As the level begins, veer off to the left and drive between the light pole and building. If you look behind your car, two police cars should collide into each other, giving you an extra chance to get more distance from them.

When you are wanted and you see a cop in front of you, drive up behind him. He will see you in his rear-view mirror and turn around to try to get you. If timed correctly, you can try to get the cop to crash into a tree or obstacle to get a great opportunity to get away.

When being chased by the cops and there is a car in the right lane, pull off on the right side of the car on to the sidewalk or the shoulder. The cop should follow you and smash into a street light or hit the car, allowing you to escape.

If you are being chased by the cops, try not to go on to grassy areas because your steering and acceleration are much worse. This makes it a lot harder to escape, especially if chased by more than one cop.

There is a certain way to bump into other cars to slow down the cops. If you are on the left side of the car, lightly tap the left tail light of the car. If on the right, lightly tap the right tail light. If done correctly, the car will spin sideways, making it easier for you to escape the cops.

When being chased by the cops and you want to make a turn, do not turn at the intersection. Instead, drive a little past it on the wrong side of the road. Then, turn towards the curb separating the roads and do a 180 spin and get on the other side of the road. The cops should drive right past you. You can now make your turn and gain a larger head start to escape.

When being chased by the cops and a hill-ramp type of objects appears, drive right up to it until you reach the top. Slowly go down it. The cop will chase you and go flying over you, causing major damage or even flipping his car. If the cop is still alive, back up and do the same thing in reverse. Repeat these step until the police unit is destroyed.

While playing in Miami in survival mode, turn left immediately when you start. Turn until you see a building and a pole. Drive directly between the building and the pole. If done correctly, two cops should slam into each other, allowing you to have an easy getaway.

Avoiding roadblocks
When being chased by the police, and they have formed a roadblock, you do not have to smash through it. Drive up on to the sidewalk, avoiding any street lights or solid objects. After you have done this, pull back in to the center lane. If done correctly, the police will keep chasing you until they all smash into the roadblock, causing a large traffic jam. Keep in mind that once a police car in the roadblock is hit, it will begin to chase you. However, you will have a large head start, and almost any other car on the road will get smashed from the police cars that were chasing you. Note: This only works about three times during a chase.

Smart braking
One bothersome feature about the game are the brakes, Once you hit the brakes and come to a complete stop, you go in reverse and do not stop fast enough. This is bad if there is a cop chasing you, or if you need to make a quick stop in an intersection. To brake effectively, without going into reverse, hold Square + Triangle. Your car will come to a quick stop, and the reverse light will only come on briefly.

Improved times in survival mode
Use anything possible as a barricade. The police AI is "dumb" and will hit anything or do almost anything to get to your car. You can hide behind other cars and lamp posts. Objects such as pay phones and parking meters do not work since cars can drive through them. Try swerving in and out of traffic and stop near or in front of cars and lamp posts. Driving close to traffic or on the "sidewalks" can also be effective if done correctly. Try not to use the "Burn Out" button because it can spin your car out of control after a hit by police cars, making it an easy target to be hit and "wrecked".

Easy 360
To do an easy 360 press, hold Circle then while your car tires are still smoking. Hold Left or Right to avoid a police barricade. Try to swerve around them, then head quickly to the other side. If done correctly, the police cars should wreck themselves and stop following you.

Driving conditions
Driving conditions on the grass are the same conditions as when it is raining.

Statue Of Liberty
Drive along the Hudson River in New York. Make sure river is on the right side of your car. When you get to the end, where it becomes a corner, press R2 to look to the right over the water to see the Statue Of Liberty.

Alcatraz island
Go to the north-eastern most part of San Francisco, along the bay. Look on the map to the north in the bay for Alcatraz island.

Better handling
After starting the game, ram the back of your car into a building, or better yet, other vehicles. Make sure only the back of the car is damaged. Do this until the back is very smashed up. If the damage bar turns any other color but green, then it was not done correctly. Doing this will increase handling greatly. Its very useful for getting out of tough situations, getting away from the law, or making a last minute turn.

Another way to improve the handling is to enter the game options and turn off "Auto Handbrake" ever time the game is played. That option always turns back on after the game is quit. Turning off the option makes the car actually handles like a real car.

Turn sharper
Press L1 when turning a corner to turn the wheels sharper. Also try it while looking from the side of the car.

Flip your car
To make your car do a flip, find a cop car on its side. Get some distance and ram into the bottom part of the car. If done correctly, your car will flip very high in the air.

Easy times in San Francisco survival mode
This trick is difficult, but well worth the effort. After starting, go straight to reach two roads, to the left and right. Follow the road to the right, but stop when reaching the middle of the first hill. If done correctly, the police will ramp off the hill and over your car. Go to the top of the hill, a little from the edge and once again, stop. If done correctly, the police will once again ramp off the hill and land somewhere behind your car. Keep repeating this and eventually the police will all land on their sides or tops. If you keep all the fallen police cars within a certain range, then no more units will appear. You can just wait there as long as desired and score impossible times.

Crazy demos
Enable either the "Stilts" or "Rear Wheel Steering" codes, Select one of the training modes to see a crazy demo.

Police in replay
Enable the "No police" code and drive around. Select the replay option after crashing or exiting to see what would have happened if the police were active.

Driving on the sidewalks
You can drive on the sidewalks regardless of what the manual states. Just drive slowly and do not hit any signs, cars, or other objects.

Driving over benches and small pillars
Enable the "Stilts" code to drive over the benches and parking pillars. The police will just hit them.
